Why Chiropractic Care Remains A Great Way To Manage Back Pain

Blog

It seems like every day, there is a new back pain treatment that pops up. Doctors are creating new surgical protocols. There are new prescription pain relievers to keep patients comfortable. All of these treatments do have their place. However, good, old fashioned chiropractic care is not obsolete and remains a great option for managing back pain. Here's why.

Chiropractic care does not involve prescription medications.

Sure, you could go to your doctor and get a prescription for pain relievers or muscle relaxers that ease your back pain. However, these medications often come with side effects. Sometimes they are even addictive. Chiropractors cannot and do not prescribe medications. Instead, they aim to ease your back pain using more traditional methods. If you're concerned about medication side effects or have had a bad reaction to medication in the past, chiropractic care is a safe alternative.

Chiropractic care takes a whole-body approach.

Many remedies for back pain address the pain, but not the actual source of the pain. For example, surgery may fix your herniated disc, but it won't change the conditions that led to the herniated disc — like a misaligned spine and poor posture. Chiropractors take a whole-body approach and always aim to address the root cause of your pain, which will yield more permanent results and help prevent the back pain from coming back.

Chiropractic care is non-invasive.

Chiropractic treatments do not involve any incisions or injections. You don't have to undergo anesthesia. There is zero risk of infection. You won't have scars and incisions that take time to heal, either. If the idea of being completely laid up for three months while you are recovering from surgery is unappealing or unrealistic for you, then chiropractic care may be the best option for treating your back pain.

Chiropractic care has evolved.

Another reason to consider chiropractic care for back pain treatment is that it has evolved. Chiropractors still rely on spinal adjustments as their main means of treating back pain, but most also offer a number of other treatments, too. They may use TENS, cold laser therapy, massage, hydrotherapy, and any number of other treatments that complement spinal adjustments and give you more relief.

If you are someone who suffers from back pain, it's a good idea to consider different treatment options. Look into surgery. Look into injections. However, chiropractic care may be the best option for you, for the reasons above and more.

Getting My Back Fixed Once And For All

After suffering with debilitating back pain for years, I decided it might be a good idea to finally meet with a doctor. I didn't want to beat around the bush with the issue, so I headed straight to a specialist who I thought could help me: a chiropractor. Even though it was my first appointment, my doctor was incredible and got to work right away on my problem. He took images of my spine and then talked with me about the results. I found out that several of my vertebrae were eroding, which was putting a lot of pressure on my spinal column. He made adjustments that made me feel a lot better right away. Check out this blog to learn more about how a chiropractor could help you.
