In Heavenly Peace: Self-Care For The Stressful Holiday Season

Blog

Holidays are fun, joyous times for most, but they are also stressful. Self-care is not just a buzzword for the rest of the year either; it is definitely something to be mindful of right now so that you can enjoy time and holiday activities with family and friends. Whenever and wherever you are in your day, take thirty minutes to calm down and just breathe. You will feel better for it, and you will enjoy everything more this season. If you are not sure where to start for calming self-care, try one or more of the following.

Floating

Water in a tub is good, if you can avoid several people banging on the bathroom door and asking to use the toilet. Floating as a calming therapy is much better. This new method of reducing stress and taking care of yourself places you in a tank of water with mood lighting or darkness, your choice, and then closes the lid to silence the world around you. The perfect silence helps you focus and even meditate on what has you anxious and then helps you relax about it. Through controlled breathing while you are floating, you will find the solutions to your issues, and then find a very peaceful self.

Massage Therapy

If you are a little claustrophobic, or you do not like the idea of being inside an enclosed tank, try massage therapy. It is a tried and true service for relaxing both mind and body and helping you to flush the toxins from your body that increase when levels of stress increase. Most massage therapists will also play soft music and use aromatherapy in the form of oils or candles to help you feel at ease.

Meditation

If you cannot find a quiet place to meditate at home, try a study room or small group meeting room at your local library. They provide the enclosed space, chairs and even a table. All you have to do is find a comfortable position in the room and close your eyes to meditate on something less frazzling. Ten minutes is good, but twenty minutes is ideal. Be sure to breathe slowly, softly and deeply. The breathing helps you become more relaxed and more focused on how you feel. You may even find out what is really causing your stress, and then you can meditate on possible solutions as you take the time to breathe.

Getting My Back Fixed Once And For All

After suffering with debilitating back pain for years, I decided it might be a good idea to finally meet with a doctor. I didn't want to beat around the bush with the issue, so I headed straight to a specialist who I thought could help me: a chiropractor. Even though it was my first appointment, my doctor was incredible and got to work right away on my problem. He took images of my spine and then talked with me about the results. I found out that several of my vertebrae were eroding, which was putting a lot of pressure on my spinal column. He made adjustments that made me feel a lot better right away. Check out this blog to learn more about how a chiropractor could help you.
