2 Tips To Help Relieve Soreness When Using Chiropractic Adjustments To Treat Sciatica

Blog

Sciatica is caused when the nerve that extends from one end of your back to the other becomes irritated. This irritation can cause extreme pain as well as a numbing and a burning sensation. All of these symptoms can make it difficult to get out of bed to perform your everyday tasks. Chiropractic adjustments are often used as a simple treatment for sciatica. These adjustments help to loosen up your spine and release pressure from tight areas throughout your back. Once the adjustment is complete, you may notice some soreness. This is not a symptom of sciatica—instead, it is your body's way of adjusting to the new technique. This soreness can persist for a while. Luckily, there are a few tips that you can use to help ease it.

Create an Analgesic Bath Soak When You Get Home

An analgesic bath soak can be created using natural analgesic herbs. This bath soak is extremely good for treating any soreness because it is a natural pain reliever. After your chiropractic adjustment, boil a pot of hot water and add fresh ginger root to the pot. While the ginger steps, fill your bathtub tub up with hot water. Add the mixture from the pot into your bath along with several drops of eucalyptus essential oil. Soak your body in the bath for at least an hour. You should feel your muscles relax as the soreness begins to subside. You can even use this bath soak to help treat discomfort caused by your sciatica.

Apply a Cold Pack to the Sore Areas

If only a few small areas throughout your body are sore, then it may be easier to simply apply a cold pack of ice to these areas. The ice helps to reduce the blood flow throughout these areas. The more that you apply the ice pack the quicker you will notice a reduction in pain. You can create a homemade ice pack by filling a plastic zip bag with large ice cubes. Wrap a thin cloth around the plastic and hold it against your sore spot. Hold it there for a few minutes, then remove it. Repeat this process throughout the day in order to make sure that your body no longer feels sore by the end of the day.

Once your body becomes more accustomed to the chiropractic adjustments, then the soreness will lessen. Until then, use these tips to help make the process as comfortable as possible.

Getting My Back Fixed Once And For All

After suffering with debilitating back pain for years, I decided it might be a good idea to finally meet with a doctor. I didn't want to beat around the bush with the issue, so I headed straight to a specialist who I thought could help me: a chiropractor. Even though it was my first appointment, my doctor was incredible and got to work right away on my problem. He took images of my spine and then talked with me about the results. I found out that several of my vertebrae were eroding, which was putting a lot of pressure on my spinal column. He made adjustments that made me feel a lot better right away. Check out this blog to learn more about how a chiropractor could help you.
