How To Maintain Chiropractic Adjustments

Blog

If you are thinking about visiting a chiropractor, such as at North Star Chiropractic Center, to help with lower back pain or any other condition that manipulation of the spine can treat, you will want to know how you can make the most out of it. This means maintaining your adjustments right after you have received them. By doing this, you can get the most out of your treatment and ensure that making a visit again can be delayed for a longer period of time. Here's how to maintain your chiropractic adjustments:

  • Get Up Slowly: Right after your adjustments have been done, you will want to get up as slowly as possible. By not making any sudden movements, you can keep your adjustments where they are. You don't want to rub at the area either, which may be a bit tempting right afterwards.
  • No Immediate Strain: Right after you appointment, you shouldn't put any strain on your back. Strenuous exercise and lifting heavy things should be avoided. Walking for a while is a good idea since this will help your body readjust to movement and the new adjustments in your spine can get used to motion.
  • Core and Back Exercise: During the weeks after you adjustment, you should consider developing an exercise routine that helps to strengthen your core and back. For example, yoga is a great option for this. Just be sure that you don't push to hard and put yourself in a position that does not feel comfortable for you. Eventually, you will be able to bend your body in this way once your core and back have been strengthened more.
  • Drink Water: Of course, drinking water is good for a number of reasons. However, drinking water is especially important for the health of your spine. The area in between the discs of the spine are comprised mostly of water. If you aren't drinking enough water, it can put strain on the back.
  • Stretch: Whenever you use the computer, sit and read a book, or do anything that forces your back to move into incorrect posture, you want to be sure that you get up and stretch. It's best to do this every 15 or 20 minutes to help your spine shift into it's normal and correct position.

By following these tips for maintaining your adjustments after chiropractic treatments, you can be sure that you end up getting the most out of your adjustments and prevent having to make appointments that follow one another closely.

Getting My Back Fixed Once And For All

After suffering with debilitating back pain for years, I decided it might be a good idea to finally meet with a doctor. I didn't want to beat around the bush with the issue, so I headed straight to a specialist who I thought could help me: a chiropractor. Even though it was my first appointment, my doctor was incredible and got to work right away on my problem. He took images of my spine and then talked with me about the results. I found out that several of my vertebrae were eroding, which was putting a lot of pressure on my spinal column. He made adjustments that made me feel a lot better right away. Check out this blog to learn more about how a chiropractor could help you.
