Are you looking for a safe and natural way to decrease your discomfort during pregnancy as well as your risk of a difficult birth? Consider visiting a chiropractor throughout your pregnancy. How do chiropractors treat pregnant women?

Chiropractors treat pregnant women much like they would any patient, but with a few little intricacies to make up for the growing belly. You will lay face down on a long table. If you are more than a few weeks along in the pregnancy, your chiropractor will use a special table with a hole cut out of the center to accommodate your belly.

The chiropractor will use his or her hands to feel for misalignments in the spine, and then to gently push the misaligned vertebrae back into place. You may hear a cracking sound, similar to when you crack your knuckles, but you won't feel any pain. Your chiropractor will also adjust your pelvis in a similar manner, though depending on how badly misaligned it is, you may be asked to bend or stretch your body into a specific position while he or she performs the adjustment.

What chiropractor should you go to?

If you regularly visit a chiropractor already, then ask if they regularly treat pregnant women. Most chiropractors are comfortable treating pregnant women, but some simply do not have the proper equipment (such as the table with the hole in it) and will thus recommend that you visit a specialist instead. You may also wish to visit a specialist if you have had difficult births in the past, since they are more likely to be skilled in specific pelvic adjustment techniques that can reduce the risk of difficult and painful labor.

Why are regular treatments important?

When you're pregnant, your body is growing and changing rapidly. Your chiropractor may align your spine one week, but it might get pushed out of alignment rather quickly when your belly becomes even heavier. Regular adjustments will thus keep you more comfortable, reducing back aches, nausea, and other symptoms often attributed to a misaligned spine. Regular treatments will also ensure that when the time to give birth arrives, your spine and pelvis will be in good alignment and you will be able to push more easily and effectively.

If you want to experience a more comfortable pregnancy and birth, see your chiropractor. It's completely safe, painless, and rejuvenating.

Getting My Back Fixed Once And For All

After suffering with debilitating back pain for years, I decided it might be a good idea to finally meet with a doctor. I didn't want to beat around the bush with the issue, so I headed straight to a specialist who I thought could help me: a chiropractor. Even though it was my first appointment, my doctor was incredible and got to work right away on my problem. He took images of my spine and then talked with me about the results. I found out that several of my vertebrae were eroding, which was putting a lot of pressure on my spinal column. He made adjustments that made me feel a lot better right away.
